  • Most DJs I see use either a 15” Macbook Pro or a 13” Macbook Air. Both should have a 256G SSD at least. I think it totally depends how much screen real-estate you want vs. How portable you want to be. Phil loves his Air, I love my 15” Pro. The difference is not much, you should however opt for the better Processor and 8G option on the Air.

  • Hi guys!
I just wanted to ask if the Apple MacBook Air 13.3 inch 8GB RAM will be able to handle rekordbox dj? Currently I’m using a Lenovo laptop and I can’t record any sets as sometimes my laptop just crashes whenever I’m using rekordbox.

Depending on what processor, it should be able to handle it.

My previous MBP was i5, 8GB. Never had a problem. The Macs seem to be able to handle high temperatures better somehow. Worst comes to worst, you can always get one of those laptop cooler pads.

I Never had a problem using Mid-13 Air with i5 1.3Ghz, 4GB using traktor in DVS mode (~30-40% CPU), never gets freezed music and other glitches, instead of Windows laptop with more powerful i5 and 8GB of ram, Rekordbox uses far less of system power in library mode and even when you are playing with controller. You just need to switch from Win to Mac. And you will se how computer helps you to get the best music experience

No worries using that model Air, that could run Serato DJ, Traktor, Rekordbox or any current software from my knowledge. Good to go.
